Hi, this is Christa at The Secret Yarnery. Today, we're going to crochet together! I got an email suggesting this video, and I thought, "That's actually a really good idea!" So, if you enjoy it, let me know in the comments under the video. All you have to do is grab a WIP, grab a sip, and let's crochet together!
First things first, let's make sure we have everything we need. Is your hook where you left it? Mine wasn't! I had to search for my six-millimeter hook, but I found it in the drawer beside my bed. Now, I'm going to grab a pair of scissors. Perfect, now we are ready. Well, almost ready. We need to find a good show to watch while we crochet.
I like a mix of entertaining shows that don't require too much attention. True Crime is exciting. I also enjoy watching MasterChef. I have MasterChef Season 14, Episode 1 ready to go. It's great because I don't have to change anything for a while. What do you like to watch while crocheting? Let me know!
Now, let's set up. I need to put on some music instead of the TV because of copyright issues. Got my yarn, hook, and scissors. I'm making little C2C (Corner to Corner) squares. We will arrange and join them together later. I have enough yarn to make 16 squares. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Tell me what you're hooking on and what you're sipping on. I have a cup of tea, and I need to drink it before it gets cold. Do you ever get distracted and let your tea go cold? It happens to me all the time!
As I crochet, I like to keep my yarn organized. I use a yarn spinner to keep it from tangling. It's my preferred method because it makes the whole project easier. Do you have a favorite tool or method for keeping your yarn in check?
While we crochet, I want to share something interesting. On MasterChef, they are competing in age groups: Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Z. They mentioned that younger generations don't use cookbooks. Instead, they use the internet. I guess it's the same with crochet. We collect crochet books, but often look online for patterns.
Let's keep crocheting together. I'll finish my C2C square while you work on your project. I'll speed up the video for the parts where I'm just crocheting, so you don't get bored. But I'll be here the whole time if you need any help or have any questions.
Crocheting can make you stiff if you don't take breaks. So, let's get up and move around a bit. I'm not a fitness coach, but a little movement does the body good. Stretch your legs, arms, and maybe do a little chair yoga.
Back to crocheting! I'm making good progress on my square. Remember, if you make a mistake, don't worry. We all do it. Just fix it and keep going. I accidentally slip-stitched into the wrong place, but I caught it early and fixed it.
How cute is this square? I'm loving it! Show me your WIPs by tagging me on social media @secretyarnery or emailing me at Christa@secretyarnery.com. I’d love to see what you worked on today.
Thanks for crocheting with me! Let me know if you enjoyed this crochet-along in the comments. Stay hooked and happy crocheting!

I am really impressed with the quality of this written pattern as well as the video tutorial. Both are clear and detailed. I am not done with my striped cardigan yet, but it's coming together nicely (though I'm not so sure about my choice to use up yarn I already have with individual stripes!)... so many tails to sew in!! My advice would be to buy self-striping yarn like she does in the video.
Easy to follow pattern! Super base for the rectangle or other larger projects.
Keep the tutorials coming and with written and visual instructions to follow along so beginners can learn. Thank you for your help.
I think there is a mistake in the written pattern. It says to do a half double crochet twice, when it is only supposed to be once
Thank you to the Secret Yarnery for this pattern! Can't go wrong with this one, it really is easy and fast to make - I'm on my 2nd one already and plan to do more! You really don't need to look any further if you're looking to make a scarf - you will not be disappointed. In fact, you'll have fun making it (I did!) Happy crocheting!
Thank you for writing a pattern that is amazingly easy to follow and help me produce a stunning piece!!
Wow! I can't believe I made this beautiful toran. Well, yes I can since I followed this easy pattern! Again, wow! How fun was this to make! Super-duper easy to make and you can be as creative as you like by choosing colours, placement of colours to form pattern(s), number of leaves, etc. so it truly can be personalized for any occasion! Love the Secret Yarnery patterns and tutorials - thank you so much for your time, efforts, and for sharing your talent with the rest of us in the world!
The best pattern & tutorial I have ever come across. Loved how you used the needle to clearly point out where the stitch was to go. Have made 3 hats already. Many more on my to do list. Thanks so much
The yarn world is vast & has several yarn naming & grading systems. This chart really helps to get the right weight of yarn, size of needle, gauge & yardage/meterage when using patterns or yarns from other countries. And it covers both knit & crochet. Thank you for putting together this very useful tool, Secret Yarnery.
I love this pattern. Very easy to follow and fun to make.
Glad I found this pattern. I love it.
It was very easy to do. I have already made 4
Great pattern and PERFECT tutorial!
The directions are so clear and easy to follow. I am a beginner and this pattern is really making me feel confident. My first stocking was less than an hour to make (which I went really slow-so it was a surprise it worked up so quickly). I am making them for a group of coworkers and I think they are going to love them! Thank you.
