V Stitch Crochet - Secret Yarnery

Are you ready to learn about V Stitch Crochet? Hi everyone, Christa here! I'm so excited to share with you a new crochet stitch that I've been learning: the V stitch. The V stitch is a simple but elegant stitch that can be used to create a variety of projects, from scarves and blankets to flowers and amigurumi.

What is the V stitch?

The V stitch is a crochet stitch that is worked in rows. To make a V stitch, you first chain the desired number of stitches to start your row. Then, in the second chain from the hook, work a single crochet stitch. In the next stitch, work a double crochet stitch. Repeat these two stitches until you reach the end of the row. To end the row, chain one and turn.

How to work the V stitch

To work the V stitch, you will need to know how to chain stitch, single crochet stitch, and double crochet stitch.

  1. Chain stitch: To chain stitch, simply wrap the yarn around your hook and pull it through the loop on your hook.
  2. Single crochet stitch: To single crochet stitch, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops on your hook.
  3. Double crochet stitch: To double crochet stitch, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Yarn over, and pull through two loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook.

Check out this playlist here, where you will get familiar with all the crochet stitches you want to learn.

Chain the desired number of stitches to start your row. In the second chain from the hook, work a single crochet stitch. In the next stitch, work a double crochet stitch. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you reach the end of the row. To end the row, chain one and turn.

Here are a few tips for crocheting the V stitch:

  • Use a sturdy yarn that will hold up to wear and tear.
  • Choose a pattern that is the right size for your project.
  • Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows.
  • Weave in the ends as you go to avoid having to do it later.

The V stitch is a versatile stitch that can be used to create a variety of projects.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Scarves and blankets: The V stitch can be used to create a variety of scarves and blankets. For a simple scarf, simply work the V stitch in rows until you reach the desired length. For a blanket, work the V stitch in rows until you reach the desired width. An example is the V -Stitch Scarf.
  • Flowers: The V stitch can be used to create a variety of flowers. For a simple flower, work the V stitch in a circle. For a more complex flower, work the V stitch in rows and then sew the petals together.
  • Amigurumi: The V stitch can be used to create a variety of amigurumi characters. For a simple amigurumi, work the V stitch in a spiral. For a more complex amigurumi, work the V stitch in rows and then sew the pieces together.

What size crochet hook should I use for the V stitch?

The size of the crochet hook you use for the V stitch will depend on the weight of the yarn you are using. A good rule of thumb is to use a hook that is one size smaller than the recommended size on the yarn label.
