Hi, it's Christa at The Secret Yarnery. Welcome to Episode 162 of our crochet podcast! Can you believe it? Sometimes, it feels like just another number. But other times, I'm amazed that we've reached 162 episodes! Thank you so much to everyone who has been with me on this journey. If you're new here, hello and welcome! My name is Christa, and this is the Secret Yarnery channel. We focus on crochet, yarn, color, crochet inspiration, motivation, and a great sense of community. Leave a comment under the video so we can get to know you.
Family Updates and Gym Adventures
A big thank you to CathyB for the cup of coffee! If you want a shout-out in an upcoming video, consider buying me a coffee. So much has happened, yet so much remains the same. We're still going to the gym. The boys are making great progress, and I can sleep any which way I want. If you've been watching for a while, you know about my neck issues. After trying various treatments, I discovered that I needed to build up my muscles. Walking wasn't enough. Resistance training was the key.
My husband, who has been on medication for diabetes and high blood pressure, also started going to the gym. He got woozy initially but is doing much better now. Our daughter, TAA, is working at a bookshop for her work experience. She wants to be an author, so this is perfect for her. She enjoys it, and I think it's great that she's gaining some independence.
Finished Objects and New Projects
Let's talk about finished objects! First up is the Luscious Lettuce Berry Shawl. It's gorgeous and has a tutorial for both right and left-handed crocheters. The shawl is so cute and stays on your shoulders with a little button. I've worn it out twice already. There is also a written pattern on sale for 50% off with the coupon in the newsletter.
Next, I made a pair of new slippers. My last pair had a magic ring that opened up, so I found a new solution. These slippers are thick, squishy, and cozy. They match my dress perfectly and feel amazing. I'm still working on my C2C squares and my yarn holder review. However, I can't find one of my yarn spinners. It's quite frustrating, but I'll figure it out.
Future Plans and Ideas
I've been pondering the idea of offering crochet courses. Instead of just tutorials, these would be more immersive experiences with printables and checklists. I'm considering doing a master class on borders. What do you think about that? I'd love to hear your opinions in the comments.
I also watched a video by Olga Pava, a fellow crochet YouTuber. She talked about the challenges of making videos and how it's becoming less financially viable. Her points resonated with me. I'm not quitting YouTube, but I need to find other income streams to support my family. Maybe courses could be a solution.
That's all for today in the yarnery. I hope you have a great day. If you have any suggestions, comments, or ideas for videos, let me know in the comments. I'll see you in the next video. Stay hooked, and thanks again for the cup of coffee! If you want a shout-out, consider buying me a coffee.
Have you ever lost a yarn spinner? It's not a small thing, and I can't figure out where mine went. If you have any tips or similar experiences, please share. Stay hooked!
