Crochet Podcast Episode 156: New Beginnings, Family Updates, and Crochet Adventures
Welcome to Crochet Podcast Episode 156! This week’s episode has been packed with all kinds of updates—personal reflections, crochet projects, tutorials, and even changes to my channel. If this is your first time here or you’ve been hanging out with me for a while, there’s always something new and exciting to share. So grab your favorite drink, get comfortable, and let’s catch up!
Family Update: Life After My Son’s Surgery
Let me kick things off with a quick family update. If you’ve been following along, you know my eldest son, Mir, recently underwent surgery for abdominal pain. It was a bit surreal for me because, for the first time, I wasn’t allowed to stay with him in pre-op. Watching him walk away in his little mesh hat and shoe covers, I couldn’t believe how grown-up he’s become. It was a real moment of reflection for me.
The good news? He’s pain-free now, completely off medications, and back at school. While he’ll be sitting out of sports for a few more weeks, it feels great to see him recovering and getting back to his routine.
For all the parents out there, you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s bittersweet watching your kids grow up and become more independent. It’s wonderful, but wow—where does the time go?
Channel Updates: Editing Changes and Friday Lives
Speaking of time, seeing myself on camera every day can be a bit of a reminder of how quickly it passes. That’s why I’ve been experimenting with some new editing styles on my videos. I’m trying to focus less on my face and more on overlays and helpful visuals. It’s not about being overly self-conscious—it’s just fun to switch things up and keep the content fresh!
But don’t worry—if unedited, candid content is more your style, you can always join me for live streams on Fridays. They’re a shorter 30 minutes now, but it’s all about relaxing, chatting, and just hanging out together.

Weather Woes and Crocheting Dreams
Let’s talk about something we can all relate to—weather! It’s been a rollercoaster here, with sunny mornings and the occasional cool breeze. Crocheting in the heat is no fun, and I’ve been waiting for the perfect chilly day to get back to my temperature blanket project. Sadly, every time I thought I’d have that chance, the weather heated up again by the afternoon.
If you’ve ever crocheted a large blanket like this, you know the joy it brings. I’m itching to get back to it. Big projects like these aren’t just about the final product—they’re soothing, creative outlets that help you slow down and enjoy the process.

Upcoming Neck Light Review: Let There Be Light!
On the topic of projects, I’ll soon be sharing a video comparing neck lights—those handy wearable lights perfect for crocheting in dim lighting. Over the years, I’ve collected a bunch of these, but some sat unopened for months (okay, years!). I’ve charged them all, tested them, and can’t wait to share what I’ve learned.
Do you have questions about neck lights? Maybe you’re curious about battery life, brightness, or how comfortable they are to wear. Drop your thoughts in the comments so I can include the most useful info in the review!
Valentine's Day Crochet Ideas: Love Yourself With Yarn!
While Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, the celebration of love never goes out of style. This year, I focused on self-care and encouraged everyone to crochet something special for themselves. Don’t wait for someone to give you flowers—crochet a rose or a heart for yourself!
I also created a fun yarn shopping video, showing exactly how I order Ice Yarns, including shipping cost breakdowns (spoiler alert: it’s more affordable than you might think!). If you’re planning your next big yarn haul, it’s worth catching up on.
If you’re new to fancy yarns, take a look at how different written patterns play with colors and textures.
Introducing the Left-Handed Crochet Channel
Now here’s a big announcement: I’ve launched a brand-new YouTube channel exclusively for left-handed crochet tutorials. I realized that finding playlists for left-handed content could be a hassle, so I dedicated an entire channel to make it easier for lefties to access tutorials. The channel is named “Left-Handed Crochet Tutorials”—could it be more to the point?
Currently, I’m in the process of uploading over 170 tutorials. It’s been a bit chaotic with slow internet and missing thumbnails, but the content is all there. Lefties, this one’s for you—you’re going to love it!
Don’t forget, there’s also plenty of free step-by-step crochet tutorials you can enjoy on my main channel.
Latest Crochet Projects: Bed Runner and Confetti Crates
Onto some finished projects! The bed runner I’ve been working on has finally come together, and I love its versatility. It works as a gorgeous bed accessory and a cozy wrap—don’t you love projects that multi-task?
Another recent creation is the “Confetti Crates” bed runner. The name was inspired by viewers like you—thank you for all your creative suggestions! Its colorful, boxy design reminds me of a funfetti cake, which feels perfect for such a vibrant pattern.
Patterns and tutorials for both right-handed and left-handed crocheters are available—check out my handy pattern collection to get started.
Crochet and Community: Staying Creative Together
This week has been a whirlwind, but through all the changes and projects, one thing remains constant: the joy of crochet. It’s not just about making something beautiful—it’s about connecting, sharing ideas, and finding joy in the everyday magic of yarn and creativity.
What’s next on your crochet list? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to share your feedback on everything from tutorials to project names. It’s your contributions that keep this community vibrant and exciting.
Until next time, stay hooked!
